Grammy and Grampy drove down from Tennessee to spend Christmas with us. They arrived on Wednesday evening, the 23rd. On Thursday morning, Christmas Eve, we attended a service at our church designed specifically for families with young children. Kate was a bit squirmy and really too young to understand the service completely, but I think she enjoyed it nonetheless. It was a nice opportunity for her to attend worship in the sanctuary, and the time (11 a.m.) was perfect for families with little ones who nap right after lunch. The church offers several Christmas Eve services throughout the day and into the evening, which is very nice! There is something to accommodate just about any schedule.
Here's Kate dressed and ready to leave for church. She's really enjoyed playing with this Little People Christmas train lately. (Thanks, R&R!)
Mom and Dad outside of church
Sitting in a pew like a big girl! It was very hard for Kate to hold still. (Hmmmmmm ... imagine that!) Tanna ended up taking her shoes off so she could stand in the seat and try to see. She loved pointing at the star that was hanging above the altar as part of the Nativity program. She also liked pointing out the angel.
Such a reverent moment

Outside on the church lawn, there were Nativity animals, including this cool camel.

We ran into some friends from my online mom's group. That's me with Danielle. Hi, Danielle!
There's Danielle's DH and their son, Ridge. What a cutie!
Christie and Hailey also were there (as was Christie's DH, but I didn't get a pic of him).
All dressed up for Christmas Eve. Oh, wait! There's Christy's DH after all--up there in the top left corner of the pic. :o)
Before we left, we took some photos in front of the Chrismon tree.

Merry Christmas!
I'm glad the nose picking thing isn't just with Jasper! :)
ReplyDeleteROFL at the nose picking photo. The photo of Kate in the pew with Tanna and your parents is a keeper. I love the smile on Kate's face. What a joyful look! I really like the idea of family friendly services. It is important to cater to all groups so that everyone can enjoy church. I once saw an episode of the Vicar of Dibley (A British sitcom) where they had an animal blessing service that attracted animal lovers. It was a sweet idea. Merry Christmas again!
