My sister Robin and I fell in love with these little pigs--characters created by author Holly Hobbie--back before her first daughter, Rebekah, was born. Since then, we have both collected the delightful books about these charming pigs: Toot, who likes adventure and to explore the world, and Puddle, who prefers to keep his adventures close to home. At the time, I was more like Toot, and Robin was more like Puddle--although now I think we have switched.
A few years ago, a Toot & Puddle Christmas special came out. It was based on the book by the same name, Toot & Puddle: I'll Be Home For Christmas. My sister helped me track down a copy because at the time it was kind of hard to find. Now Toot & Puddle have their own television show on Noggin, which is now Nick Jr., in case you didn't know. ;o)
If you aren't familiar with Toot & Puddle, I recommend picking up one of the books. You cannot go wrong with the first one, simply titled Toot & Puddle. It is a classic.
Oh yeah--the ornaments! I was surprised and so excited to see Toot & Puddle ornaments at Home Goods a few years ago. I'd never seen Toot & Puddle ornaments before, so I picked up some for the family and for myself. That's where I got the one pictured above, with Toot and Puddle dressed in their regular outfits. The two below--the plush ornaments with Toot and Puddle dressed in their pajamas--came in a box set with the book, Toot & Puddle: I'll Be Home For Christmas. I found this set after Christmas at Borders probably about four years ago. I remember because the Borders where I bought this is right down from my old office, and I used to walk down there on my lunch break sometimes. I snatched up the box set and am still glad I did! Got a great deal on it, too. Yay!
We will definitely have to check out Toot & Puddle. And I didn't know about Nick, Jr. We don't have TV, but I think we might be getting it in January. I'm still torn.
ReplyDeleteCute ornaments!
We've been watching some T and P. And reading their books. We have those plush ornaments also, but our ceramic ornaments are a little different.
